New workshop series set to spark small business advancement in the Home of the Extra Mile.

The Henrico Economic Development Authority (Henrico EDA) is thrilled to announce the January 2025 launch of Henrico’s CATALYST Business Academy, a one-of-a-kind educational workshop series for aspiring local entrepreneurs and business owners. CATALYST is designed to educate attendees on the best practices for each stage of business, from launch to beyond, with expert guidance from local industry leaders. This initiative is offered in partnership with Richmond SCORE, a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring small business owners.
“Henrico isn’t just a great place to do business – it’s a great place to grow a business,” said Ebonie Atkins, Henrico EDA Managing Director. “That’s why we developed CATALYST, to equip the next generation of business leaders with the tools they need to advance their ideas through monthly classes, mentorship, and networking opportunities. We’re excited to provide this new foundation to help accelerate their success.”
CATALYST is a free resource open to all interested individuals. With six workshops hosted from January through June at the state-of-the-art Libbie Mill Library, attendees will gain business-related insights and skills through interactive educational sessions driven by subject matter experts. Session topics will cover:
- Writing business plans
- Defining value propositions
- Developing pricing strategies
- Crafting marketing strategies
- Managing cash flow
- Leveraging free business resources
Joining a program roster that includes the award-winning Pop-Up Mentoring Program (PUMP) series and other special workshop events throughout the year, CATALYST was developed to equip and support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners for success. It’s the product of a laser-focused mission to grow Henrico’s economy for all.
