Henrico County is a thriving, lively community full of activities for families and individuals to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for a sporting event, a nice park to walk your dog, a place to see live music or a venue for fine art, Henrico County has what you need to really enjoy your free time.

Henrico County’s Division of Recreation and Parks has a mission to enhance quality of life while fostering a sense of well-being and community for the citizens of Henrico County. Whether you’re new to the area or a long-time resident, we’re sure there are leisure activities and sights you haven’t seen yet.

Parks & Recreational Facilities

Henrico County is home to 30 county parks and recreational facilities that boast playgrounds, tennis courts, athletic fields and opportunities for organized sports teams for kids and adults alike. 

  • Western Henrico County is home to Cheswick Park, Deep Run Park & Recreation Center, Echo Lake, Short Pump Park and Springfield Park.
  • Northside is home to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and the Three Lakes Park, Nature Center and Aquarium.
  • Eastern Henrico County features Dorey Park & Recreation Center.

All told, Henrico County has over 6,500 acres of parkland. If you feel the desire to commune with nature, you’re in the right place.

Sports & Sporting Events

For the sports lover, Henrico has it all.

  • Henrico offers adult and youth leagues for baseball, soccer, lacrosse, rugby, football and basketball.
  • If a league isn’t your thing, visit a local park for pickup games or to watch a league game.
  • Other events for novice and serious athletes include the Power Kids Triathlon, Chasing Chicken Sprint Triathlon and the Rocketts Landing Olympic Triathlon & Duathlon.
  • Henrico also has seven golf courses, including the Belmont Golf Course, which was the location of the 1949 P.G.A. Championship won by Sam Snead. It’s a public course, so you can play the same links as the legend. 
  • Henrico County’s Osborne Park and Deep Bottom Park are conveniently located on the James River for boating, canoeing, fishing or some good old-fashioned rock hopping. 
  • NASCAR fans know that Henrico County is home to Richmond International Raceway, where they can enjoy a Nationwide Series or a Sprint Cup Series race. The Raceway is also home to many other events such as the annual Chili Cook-Off, the Bizarre Bazaar and the Virginia Food Festival.


Glen Allen Stadium

Glen Allen Stadium at RF&P Park is a state-of-the-art little league baseball stadium featuring 636 permanent and individual seats, and dimensions equal to many college parks.

Additional features include:

  • Sunken dugouts
  • Digital scoreboard
  • Eight light towers
  • Brick concession building

A railroad station-themed press box includes closed-caption television.

Tuckahoe Little League Park

The Tuckahoe Little League Park boasts:

  • Two T-ball fields 
  • One soft T-ball field 
  • One baseball/softball field
  • One field for dedicated softball
  • One American field for 10-12 year olds
  • One National field for 10-12 year olds
  • Fields for other ages
  • One Challenger Field
  • Three parking lots
  • An indoor TSI Training Center that promotes athletic excellence, team building and loyalty.
